Monkeys don’t pick tea! “Monkey-picked” really means it’s a great tasting, high-quality tea,  and usually the spring pick. Stories passed down of monks training monkey to pick the hard to reach new growth leaves from the tops of the tall tea trees or on the side of a mountainous cliff.  Tea plants today are pruned to be about 3 to 4 feet tall. (Except for the 1000 years old tea plants, that are now tall trees; in the Yunnan province of China, where tea originated from.) When you see the words “Monkey Picked” on a tea name it really means “Taste Great, Cost More”!
